Success Stories

 

  1. The Ceylon Baithulmal fund has helped about 40 families with Roofing shelter in the Kudagama area.  This project was carried out in the year 2003, with the help of Foreign Donors. The amount spent on this is in the region of Rs.850,000/=.
  2. The Ceylon Baithulmal Fund has also assisted in the construction of about 40 houses, in the Hambantota, Tsunamigama area.  These were given to people, who were severely affected in the Tsunami that struck the coastal belt of Sri Lanka in December 2004.  This too was funded by Foreign Donors. The cost of this project awarded was Rs.6 Million.
  3. Assistance was also given  to 23 families in the Hambantota area.  It is a Brick-Making Project on a self employment scheme.  It is found to be a successful venture.  These families now have attained self-sufficiency to some extent, owing to this scheme, introduced to them, by the CBF. The cost incurred in this respect is about Rs.2 Million.
  4. Assisted for the construction of Toilets in a project in the Puttalam, Norachcholai area. Funds were allocated for the construction of Four main toilets.  The cost of erecting them amounted to Rs.292,000/=.  This too was borne by a Foreign Donor.
  5. Assistance was also given to over 30 reverts, to overcome their immediate needs and their poverty situation. These reverts were recommended to the CBF for assistance after a study has been made of their status, by the Centre for Islamic Studies at Rohini Road, Colombo 6. Total amount paid to them were Rs.985,000/=. Once again Funds were from a Foreign Donor.
  6. Our Brothers from Botswana too contributed through the CBF – to help Muslims who were affected in the Tsunami, in the Eastern Province.  People who lost their livelihood in the Nintavur area alone amounted to 1400. In addition 72 Girls also lost their Sewing Machines. 240 vendors lost their Bicycles in the melee. We were able to help these unfortunate people and others too, with the above assistance received by the CBF. The cost involved in this project was Rs.620,250/=.
